Introduction

On September 15, 1935, the "Nuremberg Race Laws" were announced during the NSDAP Party Rally in Nuremberg. By Hitler’s order, these laws had been prepared at short notice. Holding the view that the Party Rally was in need of a "climax", Hitler had ordered Wilhelm Frick, Minister of the Interior, to formulate this law as a "programme filler".
Dr. Gerhard Wagner, Reich Physician Leader, Hans Pfundtner and Wilhelm Stuckart, both state secretaries, and Dr. Bernhard Lösener, race specialist of the Ministry of the Interior, hastily assembled in Nuremberg and worked out the laws under great pressure.
The result was two laws: the "Law for the Protection of German Blood and German Honour" (also referred to as "Blood Protection Law") and the "Reich Citizenship Law".
